The Deep Freeze program is installed on the laptops in order to keep them running efficiently and in order to keep them free of non-district software.
How Deep Freeze Works
The laptops are completely restored to their original software configuration by simply restarting the computer. Every time you restart the computer it will go back to how it was set up by the District technicians.
Thawed Area
Deep Freeze has the ability to designate a portion of the hard drive as thawed for permanent storage. Your ThawSpace has been set up in My Documents. IMPORTANT: SAVE YOUR DATA TO MY DOCUMENTS OR YOUR H: DRIVE. IF YOU SAVE DATA ANYWHERE ELSE IT WILL BE DELETED ON RESTART.
Ex. If you save a document to the desktop or C: drive it will be deleted when you restart.
Benefits of Deep Freeze
Less Computer Downtime
Deep Freeze "freezes" your laptop configuration. Whatever hackers, mischief-makers or innocent clickers attempt, their "work" will instantly disappear when the computer is restarted. If you accidentally change your laptop configuration and your computer stops functioning properly simply restart the computer.

Maintenance
No maintenance is required. You do not need to mess with the maintenance wizard, scandisk, defragmenting the hard drive, or Virus scan. If you acquire a virus or your computer stops working properly simply restart!

Full Access for Users
The computer operates without restrictions or security barriers and all programs run normally. Deep Freeze is invisible, totally non-restrictive, and does not interfere with programs. The user enjoys full access to all computer functions.

Standardization
Standardization is made possible in learning environments where desktop settings and appearance need to be identical. Deep Freeze maintains this aspect by returning the desktop settings and all other settings to their original configuration with a single reboot. Standardization is necessary because the district is liable for illegal software installed on district computers. Standardization is also necessary so that district technicians can repair laptops quickly and keep them running efficiently.
