Speaking at a Tokyo press conference last week, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the Wii Virtual Console has been a great success. The Virtual Console channel has seen more than 3.3 million downloads since the launch of the Wii.
The most recent figures from Microsoft put Xbox Live Arcade downloads at 25 million, although it's difficult to directly compare to the Virtual Console - there are no free downloads on the Virtual Console and we don't know how many of the 25 million Xbox Live Arcade downloads have been converted into purchases.
